Fun at the Fair

Well, as expected, the annual Vegetarian Fair had some great booths and events. Too bad this weekend was just too busy with all these other cool things to do. I was a bit disappointed that the fair catered more to the buying of 'fake meats' and protein bars and not enough to community groups and networking. I really look forward to the fair as a chance to be with other vegans, but even here i felt like i was just a number in a crowd. And worse, it feels like the main number of people were tourists who probably weren't vegetarians or friends of veggies. But, i did sample some great food and took some great tidbits of info home with me. And, it always great to see the abundance of veggie restaurants the city has to offer. Govinda's (seen here) for example - there's even a Govinda's in Kazakstan!
After the fair, we also went the the annual Cabbagetown Arts and Crafts Fair today, and that was a happy surprise. What a wonderful neighbourhood - and great artists! I scored on some great yard sale finds (to be seen here soon). All in all, a great weekend.

i missed the vegetarian food fair this year. i always look so forward to it but that weekend was so so crazy: cabbagetown (i went too! it was my first year i didn't sell my stuff there) and the craft fair at tranzac won out. i love the veggie food fair though... wish it was in july or august.
