Isn't She Sweet?
My sister sent me this beautiful package today. She bought me this adorable apron from Anthropologie which was on sale, found this lovely old purse handle, and made this cute felt flower pin - her first flower pin! She included some other great things, like a journal from her school and a post card print.
On to other news, did you know that McDonald's french fries aren't vegan. Recent news has come out that several people, including a vegan, filed lawsuits against the fast food giant for misleading the public about including dairy and wheat products in their FRENCH FRIES.

I didn't realize they were even vegetarian. I thought they still used the beef oil. Good to know. Thanks.
I didn't read the article (too tired -- it's very late!) but I've heard that they use beef fat or something in the mix for awhile, and were misleading people about it.
What a sweet package, too!
really awesome package :) Must have felt like Christmas all over again!
And, oddly, McDonald's adds beef flavouring to make their fries more apealling. What?? They think they actually need to add something to a french fry to make someone want to eat it?? Isn't the french fry North America's favourite "vegetable"?? Ridiculous. I stopped eating at McDonald's about 17 years ago anyhoo.
i also don't eat at McD's - for political and vegan reasons. I just can't believe that they add milk (above the beef oil) to french fries! Fries are just supposed to be pototates and salt. How ever heard of milk!
mcdonald's is evil to the core on so many levels...this truly doesn't surprise me. like the other folks who've commented, i also thought they still fried them up in tallow so i haven't eaten there in years. still, they shouldn't be misleading the public like that. who would think to ask, "um, is there any dairy or wheat in those fries??". yeah, right.
You should read Fast Food Nation. It's... appalling. I couldn't put it down.
I actually quit eating at all fast food restaurants, something I never thought I'd be able to do. They're untrustworthy. Taco Bell used to be my safety net (for road trips and weird towns), but since I participated in Peta's KFC protests and KFC and Taco Bell own each other (whatever), I quit eating there too.
thanks for the link to the article.
but would you eat them if they were vegan?!? it brings up an interesting discussion around the belief that veganism is inherantly healthy. i worry about the peanut-butter-and-toast vegans and the tomato-sauce-on-pasta vegans. i think back to when i was thrilled to find that reese peanut butter puff cereal was vegan, and now i'm like gawd that is so not the point.
i appreciate that people want to avoid animal products for the sake of the animals, but if "your body is your temple", there are other considerations that extend much further.
(was that too ranty? apologies.)
re: dim sum -- yes, do you want to come?! i can let you know when tania & i get around to making plans....
Jae, great point, and no it wasn't too ranty. and i didn't take it personally. i wish a had a jar for every time people asked me if i got my protein/iron/vitamins - i'd charge them $1 for the answer, and i'd be rich! My surprise is with what places like McD's puts into their products that are hidden from us, and the adaucity to do so. I am definitely not a pb and jam grrl, you can see from some of my posts that i eat healthy - and not just vegan meals. my body 'is my temple' but i also am a vegan for several political reasons, and i've had a clean bill of health for years. Thanks for your post!
speaking of food, Krissy, yes i'm in for dim sum!
