Namaste, or I Beg You, or I Just Can't Reach It

Okay, so Shuma wrote last time about his amazing and unexplained act. I don't know why he does it, but i have been trying to catch pictures of Shuma all week in that pose we mentioned on Sunday - i call it Namaste, but we used to call it his boxer move. He does it ALL the time. And looks so vulnerable and almost embarrassed when we catch him.

So, as promised, i have captured him in the act - though they look pretty blurry since he is in action during each picture, but i think you'll get the picture - no pun intended!

I'm tired, need to sleep, but really wanted to share these pics - i'd love to know WHY he does it! If anyone knows....Tell Me!

First I have to tell you that your last post was so sweet, and what a fun blog you have!
As to why he's doing this, I'm not sure, it is indeed strange. The first thing I thought when I saw him that way was that he was standing for a treat, and if he had previous owners, maybe they got him to stand up for a treat like that. Then I thought maybe his back gets sore and he's stretching, or trying to say "pick me up". But you know, it reminds me a little of how cats sometimes open their mouths when they don't like a certain food (Marvin does it once in a while, and he'll just sit there with his mouth wide open for about a minute). I think it's probably his way of expressing a feeling about something--which doesn't tell you much, I know--or perhaps he's thinking about what to do next. Some cats will flick their tails in this case...I don't know! Sorry!

weird! i have no idea why he does it. i've only seen cats sit up on their hind legs like that when they are batting at string or something.

my cat does that thing where he opens his mouth in a funny way when he smells something unusual, maybe tere is right that this is shuma's version?

I read your post this morning and it made me laugh. Namaste! How cute! And weird. I love it when your furry kids do strange things. One of my cats watches me through a mirror sometimes - she'll sit with her back to me, and look at me through the reflection. It creeps me out.

Shuma is adorable.

Cool! I wasn't sure it was you, otherwise I would have stopped you and identified myself. It was near the Gap, I was killing time with a friend before going to a show at the Horseshoe. You looked so cute in that poncho and your hair was Goddess-like!

Carla, i wish i knew what you looked like! Too funny! I can't believe you thought my hair was goddess like - i was having a bad hair day. Thanks Michelle, you always say nice things about my hair.

Thanks for all the other feedback too, i guess Shuma's trick will have to go unexplained!
