What to Do in NYC if You Just Have 26 Hours
We went to Boston for a week to visit my sis and her beau. Since it was our 'last vacation before our Gumball arrives,' we decided to go to New York City as well. J hasn't been there in 15 years and i can't miss my annual trip there! Time was short, so we crammed in some favourite spots, and discovered the pure splendor of only eating at vegetarian/vegan restaurants!
Here is our full list of the places we ate at:
1) Red Bamboo - we had a vegan/kosher Philly Cheezesteak Sandwich and Soul Chicken Sandwich. An added highlight was the amazing vegan ice cream (pistachio and vanilla scoops) by a company called Klein's
2) Blossom - a fancy vegan resto that was truly magical - we had phyllo packages stuffed with lentils and veggies and a seitan dish cooked in a port wine sauce. Dessert was the ever decadent lavendar coconut creme brulee. Wow!
3) Teany - you know, started by Moby. We had breakfast here - bagel with creme cheeze and 'Canadian Bacon.' Too bad it was 9:30AM or i would have ordered the Strawberry Shortcake too!
4) Babycakes - had to stop here for a mid-morning snack that consisted of a chocolate cupcake and sticky bun. All goodness and the store was the cutest little place ever!
5) Angelica Kitchen - just had to go to this NYC vegetarian institution. We had a tempeh reuben sandwich and chili. Kind of reminded me of The Naam in Vancouver. I'm glad we went here for lunch as opposed to dinner because Blossom was a much better treat - i think it was one of my favourite restaurants ever!
6) Curly's Vegetarian Lunch - we had a long busride ahead of us, so we went to Curly's to get some take-out sandwiches. Decided on sharing the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich. My only regret is that we shared it - it was soooooooooo good!
I don't need to tell you that there is really a lot of choice in such a great city, and it was hard to pick just these ones to go to! But, if anyone wants a more detailed list, go to the Happy Cow site for more vegan restos in NYC!

Thank you so much for this Vania! My fiance and I are planning a little getaway to NYC after our wedding - honeymoon style but not a true honeymoon as we can only leave our almost 1 year old son for a long weekend. Now I will have some good places to check out for food! Hope the pregnancy is going well :)
I didn't think I wanted to go to New York - too "big city" for me - but the wonder of all these vegan restaurants is very appealing!
oh wow! one day i'll get there, one day...
Great roundup of NYC vegan eats! - LOVE the photo of the coffee cup...brings back memories :)
