Halloween Festivities

We hosted our annual Halloween fun this weekend. This year, instead of a costume party, we had a scary movie festival. I especially hate horror flicks, but i use Halloween as a time to challenge myself. Not that i have to get used to heads getting chopped off, and litres of blood flying through the air, but i see it as a chance to 'get tough'. And, we can't have a movie night without the appropriate snacks - chips, dips, and pretzels. We also bought way too much candy and had that readily available, and of course as party favours to take home.

Another great way to sooth the soul during these movies is to have a good hard drink. Ours was this punch that i created:

Chocolate Candy
Creme de Cacoa
Goldshlagger
Pomogranate spritzer
Fruit punch
Litchees, canned
Ice
1) Pour the spritzer and juice into a punch bowl. Add the liquor and ice.
2) Take about 8 litchees and drop them in the bowl - they serve as good 'eyes' that float in the punch.

Movies

Amityville Horror - the original
Evil Dead 2
Dead Water

I don't dig scary movies either. Dr. Who is the scariest thing I watch willingly.

i applaud you for watching scary movies even though you don't like them. you are one of the few to bridge the divide between the scary movie lovers and the scary movie haters. being a scary movie lover myself, i appreciate your efforts.

i gave up trying to get travis to watch scary movies because he says they give him nightmares. so instead i found non-scary halloweeny type movies to watch with him. we've got "the corpse bride," "it's the great pumpkin charlie brown," and "young frankenstein" on tivo to choose from tonight

I love spooky films but...There's a difference between scary movies with witches and ghosts, etc (my fav) and scary movies that involve people being dismembered and chased by a knife/chainsaw wielding maniac. Personally I prefer the former. Movies like "Saw" and "Hostel" are gruesome and not keeping in theme with Halloween really.
